The San Francisco Public Library houses a wide variety of written works, as well as audiovisual, music and photography centers across 375,000 square feet. Several unique artwork pieces were commissioned for the library including a three-story wall filled with 50,000 cards from the old card catalog. Constructed in 1996 in Beaux Arts style, it is located just west of Market Street, near the Civic Center Plaza.
