Description:

Built in 1936, the eight-mile long San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was the first landmark to span the San Francisco Bay. Constructed using a truss-cantilever design, the bridge took three years to complete at a cost of $77 million. Today, the bridge is a popular toll road for traveling between Oakland and San Francisco, and the heavily trafficked bridge accommodates more than 275,000 commuters and visitors every day.
